About Us

Who We Are

Thailand Progressive Jewish Community is a group of Jewish people from all over the world -- including native Thais -- living in Thailand who have come together to create progressive and inclusive religious services as well as educational activities and social events. Our membership includes business people, professionals, educators, NGO staff, and retirees. We aim to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of all Jewish residents throughout Thailand, and follow the Progressive/Reform/Liberal liturgy. Rabbis from around the world occasionally visit us to lead services, and at other times a member of the community leads. Membership in TPJC is open to all Jews of any background, as well as people in a relationship with Jews, people with Jewish ancestry, and those who are seriously considering conversion to Judaism. More information can be found at https://www.meetup.com/Reform-Jewish-Community-in-Bangkok-Meetup/

We're always looking for new members, so if you are interested in attending any of our events, don't be shy -- there's always enough challah and Manischewitz for all!

Our Mission

Our mission consists of two simple words: meaningful connection.

TPJC welcomes all people who are interested in practicing and learning about Judaism regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability. Our membership includes Jews-by-birth, Jews-by-choice, and non-Jews seeking to further their understanding of the Jewish religion and culture. We also support those sincerely seeking to convert to Judaism, as a good percent of our members are Jews-by-choice.

The ex-pat community of Thailand can be somewhat transient, so rest assured we are as committed to members who are here for three days as we are to ones who have been here for forty years. No matter how much time you can spend with us, we want you to be involved!

We have Shabbat and holiday services conducted by rabbis and/or lay leaders following the progressive Jewish liturgy. We hold formal Shabbat dinners and community potlucks, workshops, entertainment nights, High Holiday services, and there is so much room to grow as our community becomes larger!

This year, we’re expanding our commitment to Tikkun Olam through community service and volunteer activities, and we are in the beginning stages of creating Thailand’s first progressive Jewish Saturday school for children.

**If you are interested in lending a hand in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out!** We are always looking for members who want to contribute their strengths to our community.

From our humble beginnings we have grown large enough to join the World Union of Progressive Judaism, and we have no intention of slowing down! If you are looking for a dynamic, fun, and open community of Jews to worship with, or just to have a beer with, then we are the minyan for you.

Hope to see you soon!
